Just wanted to say how grateful Pebbles and I are for your wonderful and beautiful dog park. We come from West Haven at least twice a week, and have made many friends of both species. It is a great outlet for my high energy dog and fun for me to watch her run flat out, black silky fur rippling in the sun, ears flying. She gets excited the minute we turn off State Street, and harasses me mercilessly on my free days until we get on the road at 10:00 or so. Now if she would just stop jumping on everybody human to tell them how happy and excited she is to be there!
I grew up in Hamden and still feel it is my town. Congratulations on achieving your goals with the creation of the dog park; I followed your efforts with great interest over the years you worked so hard for this.
See you at the fund raiser, we will be in the market for new bandanas for my "girly-girl". I will let Dawn know that I will be contributing hand stamped cards for the sale; I am a rubber stamp addict and have lots of dog and cat stamps.

Today was a first-time visit to this marvelous facility for my dog Holly and myself, and what a wonderful experience it was for both of us!
I have passed by the park many times and was very impressed but like many of us was always putting off a visit. However, as Holly is a rescue dog, lately she seemed to have lost interest and became withdrawn. So I thought socializing with others of her kind might help her - and help her it did! She would never stray far from my side, but after being at the park a while, she wandered off a way by herself. I was so proud of her and I do believe a few more visits to this facility will improve her quality of life. Thank you all so much.

Hi,
I wanted to write and let everyone know what a wonderful asset this park is to the Town of Hamden. I stopped by with my terrier on Saturday for a quick look. I loved what I saw! Everyone was a responsible dog owner and kept track of their animal(s). People cleaned up after their own or let other owners know when their dog relieved themselves. I was given a warm welcome, which is important to me being an out of town person.
One suggestion would be to make the park a little bit bigger to allow for people to walk their dogs on trails.* I used to frequent Winslow Park in the Town of Westport. Their dog park is fun but not fenced in enough, where if you get a group of dogs that get carried away, they would not be protected from the busy road the park is on.
Thank you for making this park a reality in a time when off leash areas for family pets are dwindling.
Sincerely,
Mary K. Baier

*(Editor's note: We'd love to have a bigger area but it isn't possible at the Bassett site due to adjacent wetlands. We may eventually have a second park in Hamden and will bear this suggestion in mind.)
